Japanese actor and filmmaker Junichi Kajioka’s short film, Imphal 1944, has been selected for 2014 Angel Film Awards – Monaco International Film Festival. Based and inspired by real life story and incident the short 23 mins film revolves around a Japanese war veteran Masao Hirakubo OBE who returns home after the infamous Battle of Imphal to find his family and city devastated and torn apart by the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. He continues on a journey to visit Burma and neighboring north eastern states of India to rebuild lives and relationships with the people whose lives were impacted by the dreaded war.
