Best Time For A North East India Tour Package

North East India is characterized by diverse geographical features. As such, the climatic condition also depends and varies with altitude. The higher altitude areas in each state have cold, chilly winters and mild comfortable summer whereas many places in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim which have close proximity to the Himalaya have snowy winter with temperature dipping to sub zero levels.  In contrast, the plains and the low lying areas experience hot and humid summer and cold enjoyable winter.  One main phenomenon that remains the same is the seasonal wind, laden with high precipitation and frequent cloudburst that swipe across this region every year starting from March or April. This seasonal wind or Monsoon as it is called lasts till September or October.  The peak monsoon season falls during the month of June and July.  This is a main concern for many travel enthusiasts.  Torrential rainfalls swell many rivers and lakes and hampers connectivity. Floods are frequent in many low lying areas and in the mountainous and hilly areas landslide and mudslide are very common.

Adventure seekers or backpackers looking for off the road travelling experience, this is the best time to test the limits. The roaring gorges, swampy and rocky terrains of the virgin forests in the mountains and plains offer ample possibilities.

The arrival of autumn and the succeeding months till the months of March and April is very significant in this region. It marks the beginning of new atmosphere with renew energy.  Many important festivals fall during this period.  This is also the best time to visit the region. After months of rainfalls, animal and plant lives as well sprang to a new beginning. A short spell of winter may be a bit reluctant to venture out in the hills from November to December but it’s worth it.  The panoramic beauty in the winter mist is indeed surreal. Winter, specially, in the Northern Sikkim and Upper Arunachal Pradesh may be colder than the rest of the states but the experience will surely capture you and haunt you in the years to come.  Soon After winter, the spring season starts and another phase begin till the arrival of monsoon.
